It’s NOT just Harry Potter fans that do that.  It’s way more people.  Twilight is a poorly written book and has a Mary Sue and Gary Stu for main characters. 

Also, it may not be trying to teach anyone, but books always teach people, no matter what.  It’s poorly written, a bad influence, and just a bad story in general.

Twilight has made people HURT anti-twilighters. 

Maybe not EVERYONE who reads Twilight isn’t influenced, but many people are.  And some are mentally and physically hurt by it.
